Erwin Blumenfeld has always inspired me when it comes to fashion and portraiture. He was both exciting and new and knew exactly how to manipulate studio lights to get his desired effect. I was inspired to experiment with lighting and post production.

That Tan Coat.

The background to this picture was a huge, brown door which is part of Stratford Park Museum, Stroud. I chose this backdrop because the browns looked beautiful against the models blonde hair and pale skin. The greens on the other hand, contrasts against the browns which makes the final image bold and striking.

I love this image, I was inspired by a similar outfit in a magazine. The centre of the picture was definitely the scarf, it’s vintage that I inherited from my Mum. The beautiful colours contrast against the khaki green and the rough textures of the scarf contrast against the fur on the hood.

Inspired by Rankin, this picture was influenced by fruits and colours. I love the contrast between both the yellows and the greens, both synonymous of fruits and the exotic. The sugar on the lips was also used to enhance the 'sweet' feeling to the final image.

Anonymity.

The media is what inspired the ideas behind this photograph. Today, you can get away with murder and still be 'anonymous'. Therefore, this image shows that you can be the centre of attention, with contrasting ideas in the background, and still be anonymous to the world.

A Modern Dorothy.

I used natural light for this picture as I was shooting in local woods. It was a bright day, therefore the sun pierced through the trees, which also caused a dabbled effect on the boots, which adds to the autumnal feel to the picture.

Fragility of an Animals Life.

The idea behind this image was to highlight the different things that an animal's body parts are used for. For example, the cheese uses the stomach of a young calf to mature the cheese. Also the sweets use gelatine which is made up from animal bones. I was also inspired by the book PIG 05049 by Christien Meindertsma after my lecturer introduced me to the piece.

I shot this picture in a studio environment, using a soft box fluorescent light to the left of the vegetable. I was influenced by the work of Edward Weston, in particular the way he captured textures and patterns within natural subject matter.

Andy Warhol has always been an influence in my life, I've adored his work from an early age, which is where my picture came from. I love manipulating colours in images, and I think this picture has worked well because the colours in the first photograph contrast each other perfectly.

The Bare Essentials.

Inspired by the work of Jan Groover with a minimalistic twist. I also wanted to show a relationship between material objects and nature, this is shown through the texture of the objects as well as the contrast of colour.

I wanted to capture the essence of my dogs personality through a photograp, by capturing him 'smiling' with the glossy eyes and nose, I think I have successfuly done this. The simple head and shoulders portrait shot is also similar to that of human portraiture.

Raphielle.

I once again wanted to capture the essence of my dogs personality. Ralph is a lot more relaxed and calm than the other dog in the series, The open mouth and cheeky 'grin' helps to enhance this idea, yet the fact that the dog is looking away from the camera shows his laid back style.

On a grey, cold day I visited the Brecon Beacons, Wales. Accompanied with my tripod, I wandered through The 5 Waterfall Walk. This picture was a result of a 15 second shutter speed, I also used 2 ND filters to limit the amount of light coming into the lens. This has meant however, I spend a lot of time in post production altering the colour balance to ensure the picture didn't have a pink hue.

This picture was taken on a Summers day  in Snowdonia National Park, Wales. I shot this image close to the ground, this was because I wanted the stream to feature largely in my picture, as it flows throughout the picture and leads the viewers eye around the image.

Barmouth Bridge, Barmouth.

This picture was shot in a similar environment to the previous. I applied a tilt shift in post production, this is because I had recently been inspired by Thomas Wrede, his picturesque photographs are beautifully exposed as well as different from others on the market.
